Estee Lauder Model Search 2009

Back from my Bali trip. I had so much fun but I had to pay for the consequences - A much darker skin tone T_T

Will probably write about the trip once I get hold of the entire 8-9 GB of pictures!

I got myself two temporary tattoos. The little one on my left shoulder is a Balinese tattoo. Damn cute. Both can last up till 2 weeks. More pictures later!

As for now, I wanna announce something. Might sound a lil corny so .. beware! Lol. Here goes. Many have been asking so, yes I'm in the running for the Estee Lauder Model Search 2009 title. Currently in the semi finals so to get myself up to the finals, I need public votes. 50% of the votes will go into my evaluation while the remaining 50% will be from the panel of judges.

So, now I'm being corny by asking you all to vote for me although the picture is mediocre. It will not take long. Just ..

2 Molecules of Hydrogen + 1 Molecule of Oxygen

I passed Maxis's preliminary screening of Maxis Management Associate Programme (MMAP) and so I went to the Phase 1 (out of 3) interview session.

In the last part of the first phase, I was to give an impromptu speech on a random topic. The given topic was water. And it was a disasterous one =( So, in the given 2 minutes, I managed to crap these out:

Water comprises of 75% of err..our body?

Water is essential to all living beings, especially us humans because without water, a normal human would die in about a day..or two. Eh, no. I think it's 3 days.. (Nerves kicking in so I continued to blab) while a person can survive up to a week without food.

Water..water..oh. It comprises of 2 hydrogen molecules and 1 oxygen molecule, and is chemically termed H20 (Beads of sweat forming ady).

Too much of everything is not good so if a person consumed too much water, he or she will die due to water poisoning. Eh, I don't think the right word is poisoning. Ah, I think it's called water intoxication!

Err.. (after 10 seconds) I think I suffer from mental block.

The mental block thingy, yea I actually said it OUT LOUD! DISASTEROUS RIGHT? T_T My points were so random and unrelated and there wasn't any proper flow in them I thought I was doomed for sure.

But several hours ago, I received a call from Maxis. And it was good news. Yay! Maybe my little '2 hydrogen molecules and 1 oxygen molecule' speech really did save me.

Oh Boy

Final presentation in less than 12 hours and I still haven't practice my lines, time myself, etc etc etc. So dead.

And I'm tired. And sleepy. Yet I'm chatting away, ignoring the fact that tomorrow I'll be so dead if I don't start rehearsing my lines soon. I mean now. Hope the internal and external examiner aren't mean.

Hope the external examiner practices favoritism towards girls too!

The Day Before My Final Paper

I decided to break out of my shell and just do the impossible. Celebrated SifuChuan's birthday 2 nights before my final (and toughest) paper - Mobile Comm.

Left at 11. Reach at midnight. Slept at 6. Hangover the whole of Sunday morning. Dragged self up to study after lunch till midnight. Monday 9 am got paper.

Judging by the effort I put for this paper, I'd say I did a great job. But that paper was my worst among the 4 papers I have this sem. Oh well.

It's a lil too late but happy belated birthday, sifu!! At least I sacrificed my study time to celebrate ur birthday =P

I'm A Standout In Life

Disclaimer: This entry is not or Nuffnang whatsoever. My final, final exams are over and I'm so free I decided to crap something out =P

Tiger beer and Nuffnang group, one day, decided to team up and the next thing we know, a really fancy looking poster encouraging people to stand out.

I'm supposed to tell how outstanding I am in my blog and what a standout I am in my life. And according to them, whatever the blogger has in mind may not necessarily be really outstanding till people go ga-ga over it. Simple stuff like the ability to jump and eat chips at the same time is considered a quality or feature or whatever that made one stand out.

Here goes.

1. Truth is, I dislike shopping. If I have to get something from the mall, I'll just grab the first thing I see instead of walking miles round and round the mall just to look for the one with a better deal.

2. My fashion sense is terrible and I actually prefer khakis to skinny jeans. Baby tees to figure-hugging spaghetti/tube tops. Flat sandals to gorgeous, bling-bling high heels. Unbelievable? Thought so. Don't ask me why I'm frequently seen in skinny jeans and figure-hugging tops and heels. I don't know the answer to that. Haha.

3. Watching football matches is one of my many favourite past times but I won't burn my eyes and stay up the entire night just to watch a match, even if my favourite team is playing. Me favourite team = Liverpool!

I'm making myself sound as though I'm a boy born in a girl's body but with a umm..desire towards boys and not girls. Man, that sounds really wrong. But despite all that nonsense..

4. I actually fancy watching Disney cartoons! My collection is approaching 20 GB, and still growing. Oh, and I used to hate my name (Erica) and tell my friends back in primary school my name is Ariel, from the cartoon The Little Mermaid.




5. I stand at 5 ft 7 in. A PETRONAS scholar with high expectations but far from being a nerd. Very open-minded. Had my own taste of modeling world for a year or two. It's bitter, I'd say. Had several opportunities to enter into the modeling and entertainment world after that but I turned them down. Mommy's and daddy's girl, I am but I'm so not spoilt. Acquire really bad sense of direction, which makes me a terrible tour guide, even in my own hometown, Penang.

6. Before I stop rambling, I'd want to say this. Why am I a stand out in my life? That's simply because I am Erica Ting =) That sounds arrogant but I believe every one is special in his/her own ways and they stood out because of who they are.

Okay I shall stop for good. let's get back to the party details.

I got kicked out of the library cause I wore a white baby tee (it's not even a fitting one) and a pair of straight-cut jeans.

Oh I'm so relieved I will be leaving UTP soon. Stupid uni with stupid rules.

ANTM Cycle 12 winner - Teyona

The first thing I wanna complain. America's Next Top Model Cycle 12 not nice wan. How can Teyona win. Cis I tak puas. Allison should win le. With her unique look, she seriously has improved by a mile far since the start of the competition though her walk still isn't great.

Another thing to complain. How come Adam Lambert still stays in the American Idol competition ah? This one I also tak puas. He's practically screaming in most of the songs he sang, and seriously can make me wince and gimme headache. I'm rooting for Kris Allen. Man, you should listen to his rendition on 'Heartless' by Kanye West.



I memang have some major hots for musically talented guys ;p

Oh, and can somebody please kick Paula Abdul out of the judging panel already? I find her annoying and her comments are so unprofessional. Waste of time. And this Randy guy also. He gets on my nerves every time he pulls off his "Yo, yo check it out dude, check it out" line, which is like, all the time.

Since yesterday, I've been doing nothing but enjoying friends' company. Karaoke la, a really long badminton session, tmr got makan-makan, Saturday going to climb Bukit Keledang, and more to come. Right now, the thought of having one last final paper and one final presentation of my undergraduate days can really make me emo. I know I always rant on how badly I wanna graduate but that was me then. Now I kinda dread it. I don't want June to come so fast!!

Emo.

Tomorrow going Iro-Iro (Japanese buffet) with some friends. Yay =D Finally can have some good food after so long.
